September 8, 2007.- Havana, Cuba www.PayoLibre.com. Normando Hernández
González, a prisoner of conscience of the Group of 75 who was
arbitrarily arrested and summarily tried in March, 2003, is presently in
very bad health in Kilo 7 Prison in Camagüey, Cuba.

Hernández González, who is also an independent journalist, sent a note
to Jorge Alberto Liriano Linares, another imprisoned opposition leader,
on September 6th in which he stated. "I am having a terrible week. I'm
very nervous and under a lot of stress, and I have intense intestinal
pain. Prison authorities have not brought me my medicine on three
occasions in the last week."

"Yesterday, Dr. Lisbet Gamboa, the chief of prison medical services who
is a Capitan in the Ministry of Internal Order, told me that she cannot
do anything for me. Yesterday, I woke up with a lot of pain in my colon,
and from 7:00 AM on, I requested medical attention which I finally
received at 5:00 PM. At that time, I was examined by Dr.Yeny, who did
not know what medicine to give me to alleviate my pain. She told me she
would consult with her superiors. I'm still waiting."

"Every day the pain is more intense. Everything I eat produces stomach
pain and intense intestinal cramps. I have had as many as nine bouts of
diarrhea daily, and I have to take 19 medicines each day. They are
killing me in a premeditated fashion. It's really sinister."

Normando Hernández González, 39, suffers from Gastrointestinal Mal
Absorption Syndrome, giardiasis, chronic inflammatory bowel disease,
vitamin deficiency, irritable colon, constant headaches, two compressed
cervical vertebrae, severe hipertension, and loss of vision.

A tuberculin skin test taken in the first months of 2007 gave positive
results. In addition, Hernández González suffers from fatigue, nausea,
loss of appetite, bouts of diarrhea and constipation. He has lost 30.8
lbs. (14 kg)

Hernández González is the director of the College of Independent
Journalists in Camagüey. His home is located on Calle Buena Esperanza
#18 between H and Luz Streets, in Vertientes, Camagüey, Cuba.
