Cuba has first foreign-born bishop since 1959

Havana, Sep. 18, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Cuba's first foreign-born bishop
since the 1959 revolution was consecrated on Saturday, September 15.

Bishop Domingo Oropesy Lorente, a Spanish missionary priest who has
served in Cuba since 1999, was ordained to head the Cienfuegos diocese.

The head of the Cuban Communist Party's religious-affairs office,
Caridad Diego, attended the consecration.
