The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has taken custody of 27 Cuban
immigrants who landed on an island near Key Biscayne, Fla.
The boatload landed on Boca Chita, 16 miles south of Key Biscayne, at
about 6 a.m. Saturday, the Miami Herald reported. Under the government's
"wet foot, dry foot" policy, they will be allowed to remain in the
United States.
Earlier this month, 91 would-be immigrants intercepted at sea were
returned to Cuba.
