Prague - Two Czech men were arrested by Cuban authorities in Havana over
alleged damage on June 23, Czech Foreign Ministry spokesman Milan Repka
told CTK today, but a relative claimed that the reason was homosexual
behaviour.

"Both accused men regularly contact our diplomatic office," Repka said.

He said the court has not dealt with their case.

The information was first released by Frekvence 1 Czech radio station.

A relative of the accused told the radio that they are male partners who
were detained over their homosexual behaviour before their departure
from a two-week holiday in Cuba.

Journalist Petr Burda told the radio he believed the reason had to be
different than this. He said homosexuality is not against law in Cuba
and that more and more Czech gay and lesbian pairs go to Cuba for holidays.
