Government paramilitary group breaks up dissident meeting
MATANZAS, Cuba, February 9 (Eduardo Sayago Herrara, PDCR /
www.cubanet.org) - When representatives of three dissident groups met at
8:30 a.m. last Saturday in the town of Manguito, they were soon
confronted by government paramilitary members.
The groups consisted of members of Center for Agricultural Research and
Study, the Democracy cooperative and the Pro Human Rights party.
Participants reported afterwards that they wished to avoid a physical
confrontation with the paramilitaries, who were shouting insults at
them, so they opted to abandon their plans for a meeting and disperse.
