Cuban exiles unhappy with European stance
Big News Network.com Friday 20th June, 2008
Cuban exiles have been critical of a decision by the European Union to
lift sanctions on Cuba.
The official agency of the exiled Cubans, the Cuban Democratic
Directorate has denounced the move as irresponsible, saying many
dissidents remain imprisoned.
The move has also prompted criticism from the United States, which says
Cuba has made small policy improvements but has yet to break with communism.
The EU imposed sanctions in 2003 over the imprisonment of 73 dissidents
and the execution of three hijackers.
