Smoke Over Key West Coming From Cuba

(CBS4/AP) KEY WEST Authorities say a thick plume of smoke that irritated
eyes and throats today in Key West most likely come from sugar cane
fields in Cuba.

According to the National Weather Service at Key West, the smoke started
near the Cuban town of Cardenas, where farmers are burning the fields to
get rid of dried crops.

Weather service officials say winds pushed the smoke plume directly
toward Key West.

Officials say the smoke isn't harmful and had largely dissipated by this
afternoon.
