Dissident sentenced to one year for resistance

HAVANA, April 17 (Richard Roselló / www.cubanet.org) - Alexander
Hernández Rico, member of the Neo-Catholic Party of Cuba, has been
sentenced to a year of forced labor for the crime of resistance.

A fellow dissident, Miguel Alvarado Marrero, said Hernández Rico was
arrested after a fellow bus passenger reported he was making
anti-government remarks.

Hernández Rico was also fined 30 pesos. He will serve his sentence in
the Innocencia correctional institute in the municipality of Batabanó
south of Havana.
