A 4.1-magnitude earthquake shook Artemisa a town in Cuba's western
province of Pinar del Rio, local media reported early Saturday.
The epicenter was located 20 km southeast of Artemisa with a depth of 5
km. Two aftershocks of 3 and 2.8 magnitude were later reported with no
casualties or material damage.
Earthquakes in Cuba's western provinces are very unusual. However, the
worst earthquake in the Cuban history was reported in 1825 in San
Cristobal, also in Pinar del Rio province, causing massive damage and
killing hundreds of people.
