Oswaldo J Payá Sardiñas, Christian Liberation Movement
The Christian Liberation Movement rejects the injurious comments made by
the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, against the former president of
Spain Mr. José María Aznar, who is a friend of the people of Cuba. We
remind everyone that he has not tried to transform the Spanish
constitution in order to remain in power indefinitely or to rob the
sovereignty of his people as his Venezuelan critic has done.
With regards to Cuba, Mr. José María Aznar stands out for approaching
the Cuban people and for recognizing and defending the rights of all
Cubans. That is the most authentic demonstration of friendship toward
the people of Cuba and of respect for the sovereignty and
self-determination of Cubans. Never before or after, was the fraternal
hand of Spain extended to the Cuban people as it was done by Mr. Aznar.
The Cuban people are all Cubans and not just those who govern.
