Report: Spanish Surgeon Flown To Cuba Treat Castro
(CBS4) MADRID, Spain As many wait to see the fate of Cuba's ailing
leader Fidel Castro, a leading Spanish surgeon has reportedly flown to
Havana to treat the communist leader.
A Spanish newspaper says the chief surgeon at a Madrid hospital flew to
the Cuban capital Thursday on a flight chartered by the Cuban
government. The paper says he took along medical material not available
in Cuba.
The paper says the doctor has operated on several important
personalities in the past, but it gave no names.
The 80-year-old Castro hasn't appeared in public since undergoing
emergency intestinal surgery in July. Since then there has been little
information from Cuba regarding his condition.
Castro has temporarily put his younger brother, Raul, in charge of the
government.
