Sensing an opportunity on the horizon, Burson-Marsteller has launched
the Burson-Marsteller Cuba Specialty Team. Based here in the U.S., the
group will, according to the press release announcing the group,
"[provide] clients with strategic counsel on the political and economic
environments in both the U.S. and Cuba, as well as advice and guidance
in planning for and communicating effectively about eventual Cuba market
entry."

The group will be led by Ramiro Prudencio, president and CEO of
Burson-Marsteller Latin America. His team will be comprised of B-M
staffers from across the company, including Direct Impact and Penn
Schoen Berland.

"This new team will apply a multi-disciplinary approach to help clients
plan and execute effectively for what is a unique opportunity to build
business in Cuba, consistent with US regulations," said Prudencio in
that release.

B-M global chair and CEO Donald Baer acknowledges that the Obama
administration's decision to open up Cuba to the U.S.-and the business
that opens up-are what prompted the move. Coverage of the new U.S.-Cuba
relationship has prompted lots of chatter about the different companies
and industries, from travel to fast food, that will be interested
setting up shop on the island nation.

"To take advantage of those opportunities successfully, organizations
will require counsel that provides comprehensive expertise about this
evolving market," said Baer.

So which firm do you think will be next to jump into the Cuban mix?
Because you know there are others who aren't too far behind.
